On Monday, October 24th, South High’s Young Life Campaigner’s group donated a few hours of their time to walk around the South Main Street area and ask the home owners if they could spare a few non-perishable food items to the Kansas Food Bank.
The group met at a leaders house at 4:00pm, and soon seperated into many different groups, mainly consisting of 3-4 students each, and at least one adult, and went door to door at each house on 4 different blocks. Many of the groups had another leader follow them with a car, so that when food was collected, the students could easily put the food into the car.
The group collected over 80 cans.
The foods that were collected will be donated to the Kansas Food Bank. The food dontated will be for children and families that do not have the money to pay for food during the holiday season.
