There are over 100 different types of Halloween candy ranging from your classic sweet chocolate to chewy, gummy candy. In this story, I’ve surveyed around 30 South High students to see what their favorite candy to get on Halloween is and to see what the most popular candy is preferred out of the 30 students. The candies will be sorted by their brand and put into a pie chart to see the percentages of candies preferred by the 30 students.
Now starting off with what candies are the most preferred by the 30 students:

Now looking at the 30 students pie chart, majority of students prefer Hersey’s branded candy, such as the Cookies & Cream flavor, the regular milk chocolate bars, to the pumpkin spice flavored bars. Another brand of candy that is also popular and tied with Hersey’s are Kit-Kats bars, which most students surveyed mostly like either, the regular chocolate bars to the white chocolate bars. Moving further into the pie chart M&M’s, Twix, and other brands of candy are also preferred with the remaining few being Reece’s, Skittles, and Snickers.
Honorable Mentions:
These are candies that were labeled as “others” due to either the uncommon brand or the candy wasn’t mentioned by more than one student:
100 Gram Bars
3 Musketeers
Nerds
Jaw Breakers
Crunch Bars
Along with surveying 30 random students, I’ve also surveyed the current 2025-2026 staff of the Torch! Which you’re going to see what candies the writers of the Torch prefer on Halloween:

Looking at what the writers of the Torch prefer, Kit-Kats are the most preferred candy with M&M’s being right next to Kit-Kats. Looking even further, other brands of candy are also preferred, alongside with Twix, Skittles, and Finally Reece’s.
Honorable Mentions:
Again, these are candies that were mostly either not mentioned by more than one member of the Torch or due to the uncommon brand:
Baby Ruth candy bars
“Body Part Gummies” (Frankford Halloween gummies)
Gumdrops
Whoppers
A Toothbrush and yes, I know this isn’t a candy, but you got to make sure you brush out those cavities.
