On August 12th, 2022, Monday evening, the FBI raid President Donald Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago in Florida. They cracked a safe with information that took him from the White House to his Palm Beach resort in Florida. They also seized almost a dozen boxes.
“The raid was ‘unannounced’.” He added. “They even broke into my safe.”
The search is a serious escalation. Before they can search a home they would have to show a judge that there is a reason that a crime has happened. The FBI has never searched a former U.S. President’s home before.
“Occupied by a large group of FBI agents.”
The FBI and The Department of Justice refuse to comment on anything. While they raid his home, Trump was at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey so he was not there when it happened.
They also found TOP SECRET files in his storage room, 17 SECRET documents were found as well. If the SECRET information is released to the public, it could cause serious damage to national security.
More then 1,600 magazines, newspapers, other outlets, 19 items on a list as well as ‘articles of clothing/gift items’ and 33 books were taken.
Trump’s had a long history with the FBI since 1981 so at this point it’s no surprise. There’s a claim Trump’s lawyers have not made a court appearance.
They argued that a lot of the documents were declassified by Trump himself before he left the White House.
The former president repeated the claim by posting on his ‘Truth Social’ network on Thursday. The judge was able to access hundreds of documents that the FBI retrieved in its recent search in Trump’s Palm Beach residence.
Over 2,000 documents were seized by the FBI. Trump’s attorney James Trusty argued that the ‘rough rule of thumb’ in the document that was 50 pages per hour.
Trump argued that he declassified top-secret materials even before they were kept in his home in Florida.
“If your home is searched by the FBI you’re in trouble.” says Trump.
