The Phillies had set a goal, to win in September, because the last 4 seasons they have not. They started off by losing to San Francisco September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Come on Philly, you can do better than that!
Marlins starter Jesus Luzardo tied it up 2-2. Brad Hand hit pinch hitter Charles Leblanc. David Robertson who’s one of the dominant arms, struggled through in the 9th inning. Nick Fortes blocked the plate when Edmundo Sosa tried to score, which is illegal to do in baseball.
During the bottom of the 9th, Harper could’ve caught the flying ball, but Anderson slipped on wet grass.
Nola was the first Phillies starter since August 31st, ’cause Bailey Falter had 6 2/3 innings.
The Phillies caught a break finally. But they went 1-5, and Sosa doubled to lead off the inning, But there ended up being a violation of the home plate. They ended up getting 2-1 lead. Sosa hit his first home run of 2022 as well.
The Phillies right now are 1.5 games ahead in the wildcard spot and have a record of 5-4 in September. If they can keep it up they will break the September curse.
