The Dear Evan Hansen stars Noah Galvin and Ben Platt are staying by each other’s side forever. They both played the lead role in the Tony-award musical on Broadway, and they both announced their engagement on Friday. In the small series of photos, they’re holding each other close surrounded by autumn flowers and floating candles.
“He agreed to hang out forever,” Platt posted on Instagram.
“I said yeehaw and cried for 7 hours.” No really Galvin cried for 7 hours.
Their close family and friends commented, sharing their excitement including Rachel Brosnahan, Ariana Deboise, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rachel Zegler, Ariana Grande, etc. “I’M SO HAPPY AND HAVEN’T STOPPED CRYING.”
Platt originated the role as Evan Hansen on Broadway. v When it was announced that he’d be departing the musical that following year, Galvin was one of his replacements. Their fast friendship slowly developed into something more over the years.
“Ben and I are dating.” Galvin said during llana Levine’s Little-Known Facts podcast back in 2020. “I asked him this morning, I was like; ‘Are we allowed to talk about this?’ And he’s like; ‘Don’t go into our nitty-gritty, but yeah, people can know. It’s still relatively new.’
The pair held virtual dance parties during quarantine to lift everyone’s spirits. Platt called Galvin; ‘a partner that I really love. [Galvin] has a really unique ability to help me to… be present where I am and to make the life that’s happening day to day too wonderful to not want to be on the ground for it.’
During Galvin’s birthday in May, Platt wrote on Instagram; “happy birthday my guy. you’re the most special gift the universe has ever whipped up, thank goodness you were born. I love you so much.”
Ben has been in the first two ‘Pitch Perfect’ movies and ‘Ricki and the Flash’, ‘Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk’ and the 2021 big-screen adaption of ‘Dear Evan Hansen’, and he also starred on the Netflix series ‘The Politician’. Galvin has appeared on such series as ‘The Real O’Neal’s’ and ‘The Good Doctor’.
