Tupac was born June 16, 1971 in New York City. He lived with his Mother, Afeni Shakur who was a member of the Black Panther Party. He spent most of his young life in Harlem, Baltimore, then Maryland. Him and his family moved to Oakland, California in 1988. He became a famous rapper that started rapping in 1987 but didn’t take off until the early 1990s. How he began was when he joined Digital Underground in 1990, an Oakland-based rap group that scored a billboard Top 40. He performed on two DU albums in 1991. This is an EP release, Sons of the P, before he started his solo debut. 2Pac was so famous because he brought hip hop into a level of rawness and a poetic drive in the way he delivered his words. He was known for his powerful lyrics and ability to address social issues in his music. He died in September 13, 1996 by assassination. This left a lasting impact on the world of hip-hop and continues to be celebrated for his contributions to the genre.
When he was shot he was struck by four rounds fired from a 40-calibre Glock; two in the chest, one in the arm, one in the thigh. He died from wounds six days later. The person that shot him was Duane “Keefe D” Davis or they think it was him. Long been known to investigators as one of four suspects identified early in the investigation. He isn’t accused gunman but describe as the ringleader by authorities. Davis admitted in interviews in his 2019 tell-all memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” providing gun used in the drive by shooting. He was arrested early Friday, September 29th while walking near his home on outskirts of Las Vegas hours before prosecutors announced in court that a Nevada grand jury had indicted the self-described “gangster” on one count of murder with a deadly weapon. He is due in court for November 7th
