As mentioned in my other Rain World posts, Rain World is an indie game that is on Steam. The game overall costs $50-$60. It’s also on PlayStation, and Xbox. It is a survival game where you have to explore the unusual world as a small creature called a slugcat, weaving past danger and trying to help pass the affairs of falling gods. Just a warning, because this story will have spoilers for the Rivulet campaign which is middle ground between being a filler slugcat, and important for the lore.
In the Rivulet campaign, you play as a small semi-aquatic slugcat that is omnivorous, meaning it can eat both plants and it can maul dead creatures for food. As the Rivulet, you have to help save Looks To The Moon. First, you travel to Looks To The Moon’s Chamber, where she says she cannot remember what you are but you are an interesting little aquatic creature. Next, you go to Five Pebbles. Once you reach your chamber, he tells you that you have to go through his rot infested superstructure to get the mass rarefaction cell to help save Moon. After you get the Rarefaction cell and return to Moon, she will tell you to put it into her superstructure, and once that is done is the ending. Moon sends out a broadcast to the others, telling them that she has been for the most part, powered back on, whilst Five Pebbles is left to slowly die. Now, onto the theories and what importance they have.
First of all, who created the Rivulet? There are only two iterators yet known to create purposed organisms; Seven Red Suns, and No Significant Harassment. It is theorized that Five Pebbles created the Rivulet, flushing them down into Drainage system to send them to help the others. This is plausible, because Rivulet holds a pearl that explains Moon’s superstructure and Five Pebbles is the closest iterator to her. Another theory is that Rivulet was created by Moon. She isn’t known to have yet made a purposed organism, yet she may have created Rivulet before her superstructure collapsed. After all, she would want a companion for when things get hard, as well as she would want a creature that could survive going into her superstructure if necessary.
