South High school Theatre put on a show about the most chaotic town in American history: Jonathan Rands, Crazytown. Crazytown features comedic scenes starting from a mauling beast incident to a fan competition. If you’ve ever acted in a play or have done tech jobs helping with a play, then you know how stressful it can be remembering your lines or blocking. Being forced out of your comfort zone can be scary, so I truly applaud everyone in this cast to get up on stage and talk in front of a crowd of people for so long. It is also very awarding to be apart of something great and to build bonds with new people. So, in honor of the first play of this 2024-25 school year, let’s take a deeper dive on how our cast is feeling about the play and all the hard work they have done.
How do you feel about the script, is it difficult to remember?
“This script is pretty chill, I personally haven’t had any problems remembering anything.” – Lucas Suffield
“Haven’t had a really hard time with it, just practice your lines and you’ll be ok.” – Alex
“It has it’s moments where it can be difficult but you need to have a lot of perseverance and determination.” – Sam
Have you made any new friends or created bonds throughout your time in the play?
“Of course! Making new friends is a big part of theatre, getting all along with your fellow actors makes the performance feel more natural.”- Nadia
“I created a lot of friends doing so. It also helped me explore things outside of my comfort zone.” – Sam
What do you have to say to the people who want to be in plays but are scared?
“Just do it for real, you got free will, what is stopping you?” – Lucas
“Just go for it, nothing is holding you back, start with a small role if it helps.” – Nadia
“It will get better if you just do it and pay attention to cues.” – Alex
“What I would say is don’t be afraid to try new things because it can really help you in many aspects and it can help you discover things you would never expect to like.” – Sam
