What is DECA?
A club that has returned this year is the business and marketing orientated club, DECA. Organized by Ms. Gehring in A hall, this club has been around for a while, but it wasn’t available during the Covid year.
DECA is an international high school and college student organization, that helps young students become leaders and entrepreneurs in the fields of marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Students who join will go to competitions in Kansas, where you will do a test in the field that you are most interested in, and will do a one-on-one roleplay with a judge, acting out a business scenario.
Although competitions are a big part in DECA, you can be in DECA and not travel to these competitions. You can help do more local things, and you can still attend the conferences and meetings that are now on every Tuesday.
DECA is more than just a business club. It can help with public speaking, thinking on your feet, one-on-one conversations, and overall comfort in your preparation skills. It can not only help you while you’re in school, but it can also help while being in the workspace
