USD 259 Mask Mandate
On February 22nd, 2022, board members Kathy Bond, Hazel Stabler, and Diane Albert called a meeting to discuss the mask mandate. During their campaign, they ran on the basis of getting rid of the mask mandate and bringing ‘freedom’ to students.
The two choices were for the mask mandate to get lifted effective immediately or wait until after Spring Break. The board voted 3-4, having the mask mandate to lift after March 10th, 2022.
Kathy Bond and Hazel Stabler used their time on the floor to read emails from teachers that pleaded for the mandate to go away, while Diane Albert talked about statistics.
Although there are concerns about the COVID-19 rates rising during spring break, only time will tell.
