LGBT Discrimination in Schools
The “Don’t Say Gay” bill has been passed which prohibits discussion about gender identity and sexual orientation and if a teacher suspects that a student is LGBTQ, they are allowed to tell the child’s parents. This is extremely dangerous as no one should be outed and not every family is accepting especially in a place like Florida.
Not to mention that students get bullied on a daily basis for being queer and LGBTQ youth are four times more likely to consider and make a plan to attempt suicide. Having a loving family and support system isn’t something that should have to be asked for, its a basic essential.
Completely illuminating the conversation about LGBT education creates a taboo idea about the topic which is ironic, a place full of learning yet they won’t teach their students even the simplest of things.
