Kansas Senate Passes Bill to ban Transgender Athletes in girl sports
In Topeka, Kansas the senate has again passed a bill to ban transgender athletes from all female sports. Last year an identical bill was passed in both the Senate and the House. The bill 484 better known as “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act” passed Tuesday, 27 to 12. The bill allows only biological women to compete in teams designated for women.
Supporters said the bill eliminates biological advantages transgender women have over cisgender women, those against the bill say it’s unfair and demeaning to transgender athletes. “This is not a hateful bill. This bill is not about attacking anyone, but it is ensuring that women continue to have a space in sports and continue to have a level playing field” Said Brittany Jones the Director of Policy and engagement for Kansas Family Voice.
