August 2nd Election Results
59% of voters voted “No” in the August 2nd election. This allows for women and those who can carry a child to have access to an abortion if they so need one.
On npr.org, President Joe Biden said: “This votes makes clear what we know: the majority of Americans agree that women should have access to abortion and should have the right to make their own health care decisions.”
For a lot of Kansans, this was shocking especially being that we are a red state. However, getting abortions will still be difficult as there are only four clinics all of them being in the Wichita and Kanas City areas.
On July 23, 2022 we marched to the Sedgwick county courthouse “Protest for Roe”. As you can see below, people of all ages, genders and races came together all for one reason, equal rights.
It is important to note that women still have the choice of keeping a pregnancy. They can make whatever decision is best for them, this just allows those who don’t and or want a pregnancy an option.
In Congress, they have pushed for this not to pass. The source reason for this being that they are pro-life and rely heavily on religion to guide a vey life changing and permanent decision.
Below are more images of the Courthouse protest.
