Ye West Stands Against GAP
In the past few months we have seen an ongoing business relationship with rapper, billionaire, fashion designer Ye West and Clothing conglomerate GAP. Ye’s clothing brainchild, Yeezy, and GAP have teamed up together for seasonal drops of jackets, pants, shirts, etc. As of a few weeks ago, a Yeezy x GAP release sparked up some controversy. The controversy lied in the fact that Ye wished to sell the clothing in large trash bags as opposed to the usual hangers and shelves approach. While this all sparked up a debate, Ye went on to discuss how he wishes to make fashion more egalitarian and for the people. Through his Instagram, Ye posted a notes app screen shot saying, “Look to the children, Look to the homeless, As the biggest inspiration for all design.”
All this leads up to Ye announcing that GAP “held a meeting about him without him.” Through another series of Instagram posts Ye seems to show his discontentment with GAP, while also reposting colleagues who are willing to sell Yeezy in their own stores. Through an Instagram post Ye said, “We are going to open a Yeezy stores world wide Starting in Atlanta Who would be the best to open it? I’ll buy the land and or the building Then we gonna open up in every state and then internationally Anyone who has over 10 years retail experience and is ready to change the world post your instagram handle or store location and We’ll find you I signed with both adidas and Gap because it contractually stated they would build a permanent [Yeezy] stores which neither company has done even though I saved both of those companies at the same time Ima show you how to use social media.” Ye shared on Instagram
