Five Essential Restaurants in Wichita

Miya Izakaya3030 N Penstemon St.

A Korean-Japanese combination restaurant, Miya Izakaya is most known for their Korean Fried Chicken and various selections of sushi. Miya Izakaya is a personal comfort restaurant, and I’ve enjoyed every experience I’ve had here. Open all seven days of the week, from 5 PM – 2 AM, it’s the perfect place to get a quick, delicious, filling meal, especially when those late-night cravings hit. The best part: it’s a definite bang for your buck, with one generous platter of sushi or fried chicken going for $10-20. However, here’s one piece of advice: even though everything looks delicious, be careful not to over-order!

FioRito Ristorante – 3134 E Douglas Ave

FioRito Ristorante is an Italian restaurant focused primarily on homemade bread and pastas that are made every day. They have separate lunch and dinner menus and host a plethora gluten gluten-free options. I recommend their lunch salads, dinner entrees, and pasta dishes over their sandwiches. But that’s just my personal preference, I would kill to eat either right now.

Albero Cafe & Bistro – 2684 N Greenwich Rd.

Albero Cafe & Bistro has a quaint atmosphere and ambiance, that is perfect for an early lunch date. With classic Italian appetizers and entrees, Albero has plenty of choices to enjoy a peaceful and delicious lunch. I recommend their chicken parmesan, which is the best of any Italian restaurants I’ve tried thus far, it is mouthwatering.

Chiang Mai – 3141 S Hillside St.

Chiang Mai is a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, inviting, and a staple for locals. The Pad See Ewe and Pad Thai are two of my favorite dishes. They are incredibly flavorful and tasty. My recommendation for newcomers is to come with a bigger group to try their Tom Yum soup which is similar to a Hotpot. For most of their dishes, you’re able to pick vegetables, meat, and spice levels. I’d recommend choosing medium spice, especially for noodle dishes. The no-spice dishes are a little lacking.

LottÄ“ – 320 S Market St.

Located in Downtown Wichita, Lotte is a fine-dining restaurant that opened in late October of 2023. For special occasions, celebrations, or a date night, Lotte is the perfect restaurant for you. For appetizers, I recommend the Brioche, which was a delightful start to a flavor-packed night. I’d recommend reservations as it gets quite busy here on the weekends!
