The two teachers being Richard Aspinwall and Cristina Irimie. The two students being Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo.
Richard Aspinwall, a math teacher and father, was described to be a sweet and kind hearted person. According to CNN Bowling, “He would always push his students to make sure they are doing well in class… He was just really sweet.”
Cristina Irimie, a math teacher, had baked a cake and brought pizza to her class to celebrate her birthday with her students on the day of the shooting because she couldn’t have any biological children of her own. She died sacrificing herself to save her kids.
CNN Rebecca Good reported this about the 14-year old Mason Schermerhorn: “He loved everyone, no matter what they had or what disabilities they had; he loved everyone for who they were…Mason was a funny, creative kid who loved to give big hugs.”
Chrisitan Angulo, a 14-year old, was described to be a “very good kid” and “very sweet and so caring.” According to Lisette Angulo, “He was such a kind and funny kid… He loved to play soccer… He had so much to live for… And he was still figuring out his sense of style, his sense of who he was… They took his whole life, his future, and his time with us.”
The morning of the shooting, Gray rode the bus to school and had the weapon concealed as if it was a school project. Gray asked his teacher to be excused to the office, and was told to collect his belongings as he took his leave. From this point on, the footage proves he hid in the bathroom from teachers, and a few minutes later made his way out of the bathroom with a AR-15- style rifle looking for targets.
Colt was charged with four counts of felony murder.
Colt’s father, Colin Gray, was charged with second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and cruelty to children. He faces a maximum sentence of 180 years. Colin Gray confessed to giving his son the firearm.
