Winter break is quickly approaching! Afraid of being bored all month? Here are five activities going on to keep you busy over the break!
1. Wild Lights at the Sedgwick County Zoo
The annual Wild Lights event hosted by the Sedgwick County Zoo features a display of mythical plants, animals, and creatures. Open Wednesday through Sunday until December 22, gates are open from 6 pm – 9 pm. Prices range from $16 to $20 depending on if you are a member or not and if you purchase your tickets online or at the gate. If you visit on a Wednesday, they offer a discounted rate!
2. Chicken N Pickle Ice Rink
Food, games, and skating could make a fun day out event! The Rink is open Monday through Sunday as weather permits. A “Skate Pass” is $11 and a Skate Rental is $4 (children 3 and under are free). Chicken N Pickle’s Ice Rink is now open!
3. Ice Skating at the Wichita Ice Center
As the Ice Center says, “Public Ice Skating is for everyone!” The public skate offers music, games and concessions. Prices ranging from $2-$5 with an additional $5 skate rental.

4. Illuminations at Botanica
The annual light show at Botanica called Illuminations offers a “world of wonder every night.” The event is going through January 4, 2025 from 5:30 pm -9:30 pm. Prices ranging from $10 – $16 depending of age and membership. You must purchase tickets in advance and not at the gate.
5. Drive through Candy Cane Lane and Reindeer Road
This event is a free event that you can enjoy on your own. The start locating at 1004 N Azure Circle, Wichita KS 67235, these home lights offer a marvelous array of unique designs, themed with holiday staples such as reindeers and candy canes!
