So, Have You seen Snow White? The new one? Well, I have, and it ain’t pretty—at least the dwarves aren’t.
First things first, I gotta say that the market is already oversaturated with movie remakes, mainly at the hands of Disney. I never had an issue with it at first, until Disney has beaten the dead horse over a million times with it, and that’s what this is about.
Let’s get this out, Disney at least to me is actively trying to avoid creating new IPs out of direct fear or straight laziness I have no clue but it seems that Disney is avoiding trying to hire people to create IPs that people want to see. Why is Disney avoiding the thing that got them famous and made them a famous animation powerhouse? No idea, if it would make them more money. It feels like any form of creative prowess has been stripped from them unless we are talking about whatever mini-series they decided to stick an animation team to. The movie Snow White felt like a massive waste of time.
I have a very obvious gripe with the movie too, 7 gripes to be specific. They refused to hire actual dwarf actors for the live-action movie about dwarves… Let’s get one thing clear, they didn’t need good dwarf actors, anything would have done well, but instead, Disney wasted time and money on using these cursed warts that we got instead of the lovable characters we could have had. In the beginning, I thought a live-action snow white would be a cool and funny idea then I saw them. They just look gross. They look like the products of Springfield runoff.
But I will say this one thing about the new Snow White, it made the original film look 1000x better, I watched both films for comparison, and I’ve never drawn so much comfort from a piece of media in my life. It’s like they’re trying
to make a bad film when they have shown the ability to make good things. For example, I enjoyed Mufasa, I found it to be entertaining and to have pretty decent storytelling, I didn’t expect greatness but I at least expected it to at least be up to par with a remake/prequel that no one asked for. To conclude this, Disney fell off. Memes aside, they seem to be fumbling the bag on every other movie/show release they have had since the Mulan remake back in 2020. If that doesn’t speak volumes then I don’t actually know how loud Disney could get.
