Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 11. It is annually held on the second Sunday of May. In some countries it was changed to dates that were significant to the majority religion, or to historical dates. This day celebrates motherhood and it is a time to show your appreciation to mothers, and mother figures. Many people give gift, cards, flowers, candy, or other treats to their mother or mother figures such as: grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, and foster mothers.

A great way to start out Mother’s Day is to make breakfast or brunch, clean the house, watch a movie and maybe go out shopping.

Making a Mother’s Day brunch for your mother will be quite a surprise for her.

You can making any meal and/or snack for your mother on Mother’s Day. Most people would make brunch because, their mother will probably be catching up on her sleep (ZZZZZzzzzzzz). Brunch is the meal you eat late in the morning instead of breakfast and lunch. You can make anything from smoothies to Raspberry Mousse Pie.

There many places to out on Mother’s Day. Just make sure you make reservations ahead of time or you may be waiting a while.

– Sedgwick County Zoo is celebrating Mother’s Day. On Sunday, May 11th, 2014 at 8:30am – 5:00pm. The Zoo has new baby animals and their mothers for a great family outing. Moms are admitted free when accompanied by a paying child. Also the Pavilion is serving an all-you-can-eat Chris Cakes pancakes & sausage brunch for $5 a plate. (Chris Cakes is an original pancake catering company for events like fundraisers)

– Lake Afton Public Observatory is hosting the Worlds of Science and Imagination on Mother’s Day Weekend on May 9th & 10th. Located at 25000 W. MacArthur, Goddard, KS 67052, beginning at 9:00pm – 11:00pm. Moms get in free when accompanied by a paying child, and the family paying rate is $15. At this event, you get to travel space, view distant worlds, and look through a telescope at the Moon, Mars, Jupiter and/or Saturn.
