Every year, around 700,000 people take their own life and there are many others who try to. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young adults. Stress and life transitions happen to many people during this time of young adulthood. Some people need help through these tough times and we need to raise awareness for people struggling. September is a month to raise awareness for those lost to suicide and those currently struggling.
You can spread the word through social media, friends, and family to help raise awareness during this month and even after. A few things you can share include:
- #BeThe1to – this hashtag helps spread the word, promotes healing, gives help, and gives hope.
- Share MHAMD’s screening – this screening offers a free, anonymous and confidential screening for people who are concerned with their mental health.
- “There is Hope” app – this app includes risk factors, warning signs, tips, and a suicide risk self-assessment.
