A seizure is a sudden uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain. Most often people with epilepsy have seizures however you do not need to have epilepsy in order to have seizures. There are many different causes as to why some would have a seizure. A few examples are if someone is in mental or physical distress, high blood pressure, and drug abuse that could cause a brain injury.
For most people, when they think of a seizure, they visualize someone uncomiuins, convulsing and foaming at the mouth. These are called grand mal seizures and are the most serious type. You don’t ever want to put anything in their mouth, as they could choke. Lay them on their side and make sure their head is protected. If it lasts more than a few minutes, it’s best to call an ambulance. It’s unlikely that they will remember what happened and when they come out of the suzuire they’ll probably be confused and tired.
However, there are other kinds of seizures that someone may have. There are absence, nocturnal and my clonic just to name a few. Try your best when dealing with a seizure. It is scary but staying calm is one of the most important things to do so nothing else can go wrong.
