In high school, time always seems to fly by fast; especially towards the end of senior and junior year. Before you know it, you’ll be leaving school and moving on to college or a career path. Talking to people you don’t know can be nerve-racking. You don’t know if they’ll deny your request or ignore you completely (which probably won’t happen anyway). But, it’s always a good skill to have. For example, when it comes to asking for directions to a shop, it’s better to just ask than suffer the consequences of getting lost. Practicing on teachers and other students is a good place to start.

Writing emails to employers and teachers

This sounds like a no-brainer, but many high-school students don’t know how to write proper and polite emails. If your tone, grammar, and format are all over the place, your teachers and employers will probably look at you sideways.

How to make meals

Once your parents aren’t able to cook for you anymore, you’re going to need a new system for how you get your meals. While ordering from fast food is fast (hence the name) and easy, it’s not good for every meal. Buying your meals from fast food places will also drain any money you get from a paycheck.

How to be alone

When you’re away from home and friends, it’s normal to feel lonely every once in a while. If you’re going to college after high school, living in a dorm away from the ones you know could be overwhelming. While moving through this time of your life, being comfortable with being alone is important. While you should make new friends in your environment, they won’t always be around for you.

These tips aren’t the most essential for adult survival, but they are skills and abilities that everyone should learn and be comfortable with.
