WSD arrested a 14-year-old for the death and shooting of 17-year-old Julio Ruiz Wichita teen.
The WPD received a report of a shooting near 11700 E. Waterman around 8:47 p.m. on Friday. At the same time, a shooting report was also received at a local hospital. WPD officers went to the hospital and discovered that Julio had been shot. Unfortunately, he passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.
WPD found out that the shooting went down in the 100 block of N. Zelta Street. They arrested a 14-year-old for first-degree murder. WPD is still figuring out what went down before the shooting. They’re saying it wasn’t some random thing and that the people involved knew each other.
WPD is saying there’s no danger to the public, but they haven’t caught the suspect yet. The investigation is still going strong.
