Top 10 psychedelic rock albums
There are many types of music that have influenced the way people look at the fine arts of poetry and rhythms. but i feel that a major game changer in the industry is psychedelic rock it was a big change in the sixties and if it would have came earlier i feel it would have wrecked the music industry. if introduced earlier. because people getting use to rock from England was still a big adjustment. let alone something as big of a game changer like it was. well here is a list of the top ten psychedelic rock albums. But what defines psychedelic rock? As a musical style, psychedelic rock attempted to replicate the effects of and enhance the mind-altering experiences of hallucinogenic drugs, incorporating new electronic and recording effects, extended solos, and improvisation.
10.Revolver, The Beatles
Coming in at number 10 is a great intro to the series. because the lyrical representation is such a good way to mix the theme with the tone of the overall album. and in a way that is well done with all of the soundboard effects and multiple musical cues from the songs, one song that shows this is the yellow submarine. And the closing song also shows this.
9. Jimi Hendrix Experience, Are You Experienced.
This album was revolutionary . well actually the band itself was very different and offbeat from most bands at the time.back in the sixties they were their own music and sound they came out with material most artist from then would not even come up with for a long time. and people were amazed by it the sound the style all of it was quite amazing. because america was just know getting used to albums from american artist such as beach boys with pop and soft rock. then the experience enters the picture and changes it. It was a big adjustment for many americans.
8. Their Satanic Majesties Request, Rolling Stones
This was a particularly out of place one, the album itself was different previous stones albums most follow a rhythm and beat that was soft and mellow tone. then enters TSMR which becomes a hit with the public. and it showed you could pull something very different off with the same concept.
7. Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Pink Floyd
This was the debut album of Pink Floyd and I could see why i did not take off. it was the intro to Psychedelic rock. and again a very big game changer in its time period. with less than 300 words on the entire album made it a big adjustment for western audiences.
6. Self titled, The Doors
The opening song is actually in the top 500 rock songs of all time by rolling stones website. but i would not consider most of their other albums Psychedelic. just the debut album was good in that type of way.
5. Magical Mystery Tour, The Beatles
This album could go two ways as art pop, psyc rock. but ether way you slice it, it is still a good album. i feel it was better than most Beatles work i am not a fan of the Beatles later stuff but this is one exeption. the music the symphonic sounds the lyrics and how it all ties together. the way it is from the artwork to the gatefold to the flip book straight to the music it is perfect down to the last detail. it is absolute genius. which shows off some of the best of the Beatles work.
4. Abbey Road, The Beatles
Again the same image is captured here with the way magical mystery tour was with the concept of how Paul McCartney is dead and goes with that whole concept of how it can capture the image of classic rock basis. but still has a psyc feeling.
3. Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles
Well what can we say about this album. their is so much to say about it. from the style of its cover art to its lyrical representation. and even the instruments used. anything with a sitar is awesome. and gives it that hippies sound. which is pleasing to the ear. but what could top it?
2. Beach Boys, Pet Sounds.
This album is very well executed with sounds of music and tracks of well pet sounds.
1. Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd
Besides being the most infamous album. with hundreds of pieces of merchandise. from t-shirts to coffee mugs even to candy. It stayed at the top of the top 100 charts for 32 weeks. it is a infamous album.
