On January 23, 2023, a spree killer opened fire at two nearby farms in Half Moon Bay, California, killing seven adults and critically injuring an eighth adult. The seven dead victims, along with Mr. Perez’s brother, who is recovering from gunshot injuries in a Bay Area hospital.
The victims were identified on Wednesday morning. The spate of killings in Half Moon Bay left two crime scenes: one at California Terra Garden, where the suspect lived and worked with his wife, and a second nursery, Concord Farms, about a mile away and where Mr. Zhao had previously worked.
deputies were hunting for the accused gunman, they found his cell phone lying on the side of a highway, suggesting he had disposed of it to thwart law enforcement from tracking him
The suspect, Chunli Zhao, 66, was arrested after driving to a police station.
