A time period during the 14th century began to gain momentum in Italy. This became known as the Renaissance.

The Renaissance started in Florence Italy, with rich cultural history where rich civilians supported budding artists. The Medici family ruled Florence for over 60 years, they were famous backers in the movement. Italian writers, artists and politicians declared they were partaking in the intellectual and artistic revolution and would soon find out that it would be much different from what they experienced in the “Dark Ages”. The movement began expanding in other cities in Italy, for instance, Venice, Milan, Bologna, Ferrara and Rome. The Renaissance ideas traveled through Italy, France and then later through western and northern Europe. Despite the fact that European countries experienced the Renaissance later on, the impact was still Sate-of-the-art.
