Background

The term “MAPs” stands for Minor Attracted Persons. It is an umbrella term for people with any condition that means they are sexually attracted to minors (those below the age of consent) including nepiophilia, pedophilia, hebephilia, etc.

MAP’s have been using social media under this self-identifier for quite some time, blogging onto the sites such as Tumblr. However, there is a petition to have openly expressing MAPs removed from the site. There is also a sub-title term called “NOMAPs” which stands for “Non-offending Minor Attracted Persons”. That is their way of stating that they keep their hands to themselves despite their sexual desires directed at children. They are aiming to make MAPs a sexuality under the LGBTQ+ community.

“Pride Flag”

An image was created as a part of a troll experiment on Tumblr, the image was of the MAPs “pride” flag. It began circulating on Facebook around 2018, the post typically includes a message warning social media users of anyone displaying the flag.

The Tumblr page that started the flag briefly explained what the colors meant on the flag. The top two stripes are blue to represent NOMAPs attracted to young boys. The bottom two stripes are pink to represent NOMAPs attracted to young girls. The inner stripes are yellow to represent childhood and general attraction to minors, regardless of their gender. The middle white stripe represents innocence and unwillingness to offend.

This is a Minor Attracted Person (MAP) flag. If you happen to see this flag on any Social Media Profile or someone using the term MAP in their bio, please REPORT the Pedophile running the account.

The Prevention Project, an organization that helps minor-attracted persons find professional treatment, explicitly denied that the term MAPs was an attempt to “rebrand” pedophiles. Rather they explained that this term was as a broader reference that could accurately encompass hebephiles, pedophiles, and Ephebophiles.

We are not trying to “soften the term” or “rebrand” pedophillia to fit in with certain groups. We treat individuas who are attracted to various ages of minors, thus it is accurate to use the term Minor Attracted Person.

There has been plenty of backlash into this “community” of MAPs because of the stigmatization. A public survey of nearly 1,000 people, showed that 39% believed that non-acting MAPs should be incarcerated, and 14% believed that they would be “better off dead”. Many people tend to respond in a violent way when children are involved in something negative, which is why many don’t condone this “pedophilic” behavior or state of mind for good reason. Many parents are afraid of their children falling victim to these pedophile “attacks” on social media because that is the easiest way for these minor-attracted people to come into contact with minors.

• Hebephilia- attraction to pubescent children/early adolescents (13)
• Ephebophilia- attraction to late adolescents (14+)
