The Capitol Riot
On Jan. 6, 2021, a Trump-supporting mob of around 2,000-2,500 stormed into the Capitol in Washington D.C. They were trying to overturn the defeat over Trump’s loss in the 2020 presidential election. The capitol was locked down, and lawmakers and staff were evacuated as rioters assaulted law enforcement officers, vandalized property, and occupied the building for several hours. Five people died shortly after/during the event, and many people were injured: including 138 police officers.
