This little triangle of joy has been unjustly overshadowed by its counterparts, and it’s high time we rectify this injustice!
Let’s face it, folks, we’ve all grown tired of the monotony of chocolate. Brown, brown, and more brown. But behold the candy corn! Its vibrant layers resemble a miniature sunset, evoking a kaleidoscope of excitement that your taste buds have been yearning for. With the flavors based on honey, sugar, butter, and vanilla, what could be better?? It was first invented in the 1880s by a Wunderle Candy Company employee, George Renninger..Curious George…he created a beauty…Wunderle Candy Company was the first to produce the candy in 1888. The Goelitz Confectionery Company (now called Jelly Belly) began manufacturing the product in 1898. Although it is currently most popular in the fall, candy corn was only sometimes associated with the fall and Halloween seasons. For the first half of the 20th century, candy corn was a well-known “penny candy” or bulk confectionery, and it was advertised as an affordable and popular treat that could be eaten year-round.
The skeptics may argue that candy corn is just too sweet. To them, I say, “Sweetness is a virtue, my friends!” Who wants bland and predictable when you can have a flavor explosion that’ll have your taste buds doing the cha-cha?
Now, let’s mention the mixed bags with those adorable pumpkins. They’re like the quirky sidekicks in a drama, adding a touch of whimsicalness to our sugar-filled adventures. Each pumpkin is like a mini superhero, donning its candy corn cape, ready to save the day one sweet bite at a time.
It’s time to unite, fellow believers, and declare our allegiance to the sweetest cause of them all. The National Confectioners Association has deemed October 30, the day before Halloween, “National Candy Corn Day.” Let us establish Candy Corn Temples, where we can gather to pay our respects and offer sacrifices of peanut butter cups and gummy bears on our sacred day.
