Many people have always had a debate on whether it’s Christmas or Thanksgiving season. Some say November is for Thanksgiving but others disagree. Some people say it’s Christmas due because they believe Thanksgiving isn’t much of a holiday but this is because they are uncultured. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for those around you. Be thankful for the opportunities you get in life. And Christmas isn’t just about getting gifts but also about those around you. Both holidays are very similar to each other without people realising it, both holidays are about us being thankful for those around us, for family, friends, coworkers, and just being here.
Words from the people-
- “I think both are very important for families (blood and chosen). They create a sense of belonging for each other and togetherness. I think Thanksgiving and Christmas go hand in hand, neither is better than the other,” Hannah Poyner, Senior.
- “THANKSGIVING SUCKS. WHAT CAN YOU DO ON THANKSGIVING THAT YOU CAN’T DO ON CHRISTMAS???? AND BEFORE YALL GET ME STARTED ON “Oh, well what can you do on Christmas that you can’t do on Thanksgiving?”. DOES IT SNOW ON THANKSGIVING?? NO. Well maybe sometimes. DO YOU FEEL THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT ON THANKSGIVING?? NO. WHAT’S STOPPING YOU FROM EATING TURKEY AND HAM ON CHRISTMAS??? NOTHING. DON’T YOU GUYS GO OUT SAYING, “Oh, well what’s stopping you from opening presents on Thanksgiving?”. WELL, WHEN DO DEALS START?? WHEN DO “GIFTS” GET HALF OFF? AFTER, THANKSGIVING. CHRISTMAS IS BETTER. DEBATE ME,” Jazz Zachary, Senior.
- “I believe both because the quality time you get with your family each holiday is very fulfilling,” Quinn Montoya-Jones, Senior.

- “I personally like Thanksgiving better because it seems like you get to spend more quality time with your family, and everyone does love eating it’s a good way to connect with family and you don’t have to spend a lot of money,” Leila King, Junior.
- “In, my opinion I think the holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving are more alike than everyone thinks, it’s always about the gifts, decorations, but it’s all about our loved ones, our families and friends, and our future significant others,” Ernesto Mena, Junior.
- “I like both because I get to eat at both. My family makes delicious food.” -Lily Dennett, Junior.
- “Christmas has better music, better food, better activities, better weather. It’s just better, I don’t make the rules,” Gabrielle Washington, Sophomore.

On average 60% of people believe it is rightfully Christmas Season. Some stated that there is no difference if their Christmas tree is up before Thanksgiving ends because the turkey is gonna taste the same no matter what. Only 16% says its Thanksgiving and only Thanksgiving till December. A total of 32% of the South High Titan populations voted both because there’s no reason you can have both at the same times.
