Halloween is coming, and so are the trick-or-treaters. But what about the non-trick-or-treaters? Approximately 30% of Americans do not participate in trick-or-treating. That’s approximately 103 million Americans! Not everybody celebrates holidays the same, that counts for Halloween too. While trick-or-treating is definitely one of the most popular ways to celebrate Halloween, the non-trick-or-treaters have their ways too. In fact, there are multiple popular ways to celebrate Halloween other than trick-or-treating, you can really celebrate it however you’d like. There’s really not a “wrong” way to celebrate, so go wild this Halloween!
There are many more things you can do outside of your home on Halloween other than trick-or-treating, like horror/Halloween attractions! The only downside to these is that you might have to pay a pretty penny for them. But they’re super fun, especially with friends! For starters, maybe plan a trip to a haunted house with your friends. This could be like a staged attraction where people dressed up scare you as you walk through, or it could be the real haunted house deal! Definitely one to try if you enjoy a good scare while still having a good laugh with your friends, the real haunted houses could be really fun if you enjoy the paranormal. Some haunted houses near South include 13 Sinister Souls, OJ Watson’s Wicked Island, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Allen House. Theres much more than just these three, but those are just some quick examples. Maybe visit a corn maze or a horror movie? Corn mazes bring plenty of scare, definitely a fun one to go with friends or even alone. In corn mazes, you navigate through the maze trying to find your way out with the element of surprise around the corn corners. Horror movies alone or with friends is also a great way to spend your money on Halloween! Find a good horror movie that’s in theatres and buy a ticket, horror movies provide the story experience with the Halloween scare.
And of course, there are things you can do outside of your home that don’t cost too. Maybe not as fun to some people, or preferred by all, but still good options. You could go on a fall nature walk or maybe tour your city looking at all the Halloween decorations. It can always be nice to get out, maybe you could go camping at a local campsite. As always, you could bring your friends to this one too, maybe make some smores around the campfire at night and tell stories. It could also be nice just to get out in a park and enjoy the fall nature too. Maybe a nature trail could prove to be pretty refreshing, while still providing that Halloween fall feeling. You could also drive or walk around and look at Halloween decorations in your city, neighborhood or area too! Some people have some pretty impressive decorations, some of them even interactive. Another thing you could do could be decorating outside your home as well. Maybe simple decorations if your looking to keep it cheap, but even just a little bit of decorating can look pretty cool. Carve some pumpkins! Messy, but fun and artistic, fitting well into the Halloween spirit.
You could even keep your fun Halloween inside if you really want to! Theres still a lot of things you could do inside for Halloween. You could do a Ouija Board session as a spooky Halloween board game experience. Always remember to play it safe though and respect the rules of the board. You could stream horror movies or play some horror games. Watch some Scream movies, or Friday the 13th! Popular and iconic horror movies. Maybe do both! With friends too, you could even have a party at your house if you really wanted to. Do all the things at your house with everybody there! Make it a costume party! And if you can do that but still want to spend Halloween having fun with friends at home make a group call and do all of them on call! You could also hand out candy to trick-or-treaters while you have your Halloween fun at home.
While trick-or-treating is the most popular way to celebrate Halloween, it isn’t your only option. Whether you’re staying at home or not, I hope all of you non-trick-or-treaters have just as much fun as the trick-or-treaters this Halloween. Maybe you can even come up with your own safe ways to enjoy your Halloween night!
