gay rights movement, civil rights movement that advocates equal rights for LGBTQ persons (i.e., for lesbians, gays
[homosexual males], bisexuals, transgender persons, and queer persons); seeks to eliminate sodomy laws.
and calls for an end to discrimination against
LGBTQ persons in employment, credit, housing, public accommodations, and other areas of life. Although the
term gay is commonly used in reference to homosexual males, it is also used more generally to refer to
homosexual males
together with some or all other
orientations within the LGBTQ community.
-
1955: The term “gay” is first used to describe same-sex relationships between men.
-
1969: The Stonewall Riots in New York City marked the beginning of the gay rights movement.
-
1970: The first pride parades were held in several cities, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.
-
1987: The Supreme Court ruled in Lawrence v. Texas, allowing same-sex marriage in some states.
-
2012: Obergefell v. Hodges legalized same-sex marriage nationwide.
These milestones reflect the significant progress made in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights over the decades.

In the year of 2025, the present president Donald J Trump, is going down the path of trying to ban the rights of gay
people and trying
to illegalize gay marriages of every one of the same sexes.
The U.S. Supreme Court has officially been asked to overturn the 2015 decision that granted equal marriage rights
to LGBTQ+ couples.
Everyone now is trying to overrule the fact that the gay rights shouldn’t get its rights changed over a single and a
less amount
of the LGBTQ+ community. With everyone asking, “why does it matter?” or some over widespread would ask
“Why can’t you just do a traditional marriage and be with the opposite gender?” But something I would like to
comment about.
Would be, that there is no need for there to be so much hate discrimination within this community because people
like to overturn
and change the perspectives minds using the bible. This has been a thing going on for the while where they would
say that “Jesus didn’t want this”
towards a gay person. yet Jesus has never stated nor said for his people to be so cruel towards one another and NOT
spread kindness. I am Not going
to speak beyond about the bible because I have not in fact been a part of the organization of Christianity, and other
beliefs of the sort under the bible.
Yet I have read the bible, but in other words I would just like to say that even if it wasn’t said to be “non-sinful”.
We are all human and we live once, so why can’t we
live to our own expectations in one’s perspective and not care about another’s? We shouldn’t get our marriage
opportunities overthrown neither thrown
in jail for loving someone. Why are we going back to the old times when people would just do all hate crime?
Shouldn’t everyone feel safe under the
USA.
