Who is Moth-Man? Where is Moth-Man? What is Moth-Man? And how did Moth-Man become a conspiracy?
Moth-Man, a winged cryptid from Point Pleasant, West Virginia, is described as a tall human-like figure with glowing red eyes.
This conspiracy originated from series of sightings in the city area, the first sighting started in November 1966 when two couples reported seeing a man-like creature with glowing eyes and large wings flying after their car near an old WWII munitions plant. It gained national attention when towns folks started linking the creature with the tragic silver bridge collapse in 1967 which killed 46 people.
Some people believe the creature is a harbinger of doom that may have actively caused the accidents it was linked to, while others believe its a supernatural entity that appears to warn people before disasters.
There were over 100 sightings in and around point pleasant West Virginia during 1966-1967. Numerus other sightings have been reported in different locations, including Chicago area airports. Due to fear, many people who have spotted this creature were reluctant to come forward, meaning the total number of sightings is much higher.
Today, towns folks in Point Pleasant, West Virginia celebrate the towns most famous legend, Moth-Man. The festival was founded by Jeff Wamsley in 2002 as a way to highlight the mysterious sightings of Moth-Man. Its home to the worlds only Moth-Man Museum with a 12-foot tall statue. A cultural event held every third weekend in September as a creative way to attract visitors to see the uniqueness of Moth-Man and its folklore.
