The late 1800s is when films became a thing. Films were made with the Kinetoscope and Cinematograph. The film “Roundhay Garden Scene” is the first film to be created. Its very similar to stop motion movies, in the way that it is filmed frame by frame.

Throughout the 1900s and 20s silent films became the new craze like, “Nosferatu” and “Metropolis.” In 1927 and movie called “The Jazz Singer” was released, this was a major game changer. The film featured spoken dialogue and music. This was the transition between silent films and “talkies.”

The 1930s-40s became known as “The Golden Age Of Hollywood” because of the glamorous looks as well as the shift to colored films. The 50s started the widespread of colored films and widescreen formats. Movies like “Sunset Boulevard” a film about the price of fame, and Oscar award winning movie “Ben-hur.” The 60s-70s was the Blockbuster era. With a new way of story telling and filming style we got movies such as “Jaws” and “Star Wars.”

The more modern movies come from the 80s and 90s. Studios are experimenting with special effects and CGI. For example the movies “Terminator 2,” “Jurassic Park,” and “The Matrix. Nowadays filming hasn’t changed much since the 2000s, that brought digital filming.
