South’s JROTC program visited Topeka on the 19th of January for a tour along with all other state JROTC and Leadership programs. They toured the State Capitol Building along other historical buildings such as the Kansas Historical Museum. The cadets, including Kalon Kirk, also sat in a senate meeting.
Three cadets were specially picked to represent South; However, two, Thomas Horbelt and Caden Bomboy, were sick and were unable to go, leaving Kirk. Kirk says “it was an amazing experience to look at the amazing architecture, learn more about Kansas history, and meet fellow JROTC cadets.”
