The Kansas Food Bank is a food pantry that specializes in packaging foods for families or children and distributing food among multiple communities around Kansas. Botanica the Wichita Gardens
Like the outdoors or like gardening? Botanica the Wichita Gardens is a 17-acre botanical garden with 30 different gardens and exhibits, which range from sculptures, fountains, and a carousel. Volunteer opportunities can range from multiple things such as field trip guides or hosts, garden volunteers, tour guide, train operator (you don’t actually operate an actual train), admission services, and gift shop volunteer. Volunteers must be at least 14-15 years old alongside a parent or guardian and volunteers the age of 16 and up may volunteer on their own. Lord’s Diner
Want to help feed your local community? Lord’s Diner a ministry Catholic Diocese of Wichita, is a diner that specializes in combating hunger by providing food to the homeless/poor. Volunteering at lord’s Diner mainly is serving food at food trucks or at Lord’s Diner. Volunteers must be 12 years and over along with taking a food safety quiz and volunteers who are 18 years and over must take a safe environment class, which is offered in person at Lord’s Diner. Kansas Humane Society
Like interacting with animals? The Kansas Humane Society is one of the oldest non-profit organizations, since 1888 in Wichita that specializes in helping and caring for animals that don’t have a home. Volunteer opportunities range from jobs such as interacting with animals like dog walking or just socializing with cats, customer service, becoming a foster parent for an animal that isn’t ready for adoption, and educating the youth about animal care and ownership. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, along with a photo ID to volunteer on their own, however volunteers of the age of 9 to 15 can volunteer but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Habitat for Humanity Restore is a non-profit home improvement store and donation center that specializes in selling and recycling new or donated furniture, appliances, building supplies, and home goods to the public.
