There is a national animal shelter crisis because animal shelters are at capacity in the U.S. This problem is particularly effecting dogs with many operating at or above 100% capacity due to high income rates and slower adoption rates. This overcrowding causes high stress, increasing disease vulnerability, and strains recourses. Due to these animal shelter she had to promote many different probabilities to adopt animals so that they can lower the number of animals that are in the shelter. The economic pressures are also another reason that the animal shelters are in crisis because people can’t afford to take care of their animals or can’t find homes that accept animals. The volunteers that help animal shelters are also left stressed and exited. The longer animals stay the more their behavior changes and the worse their health get.
